Do I Need my Property Tested for Asbestos?

Residential and commercial buildings built, or that had work done, between 1950 and 2000 are quite likely to contain asbestos or have asbestos on site. For the health and safety of those on site, it is important to know whether the materials in your property contain asbestos before any demolition or renovation work is undertaken.

If you suspect your property, or a property you are considering purchasing, has asbestos, contact us to have your property tested for asbestos.

Preliminary Asbestos Survey

If you suspect your property contains asbestos products, our Preliminary Asbestos Survey is a quick and cost-effective way to determine a way forward.

One of our technicians will visit your property to perform an initial asbestos inspection and collect samples, if you want any suspect products tested. We then produce a short, written summary providing an explanation of the extent of asbestos presence on your property, and options to either remove or manage this asbestos.

Note: in the case of a preliminary visual inspection, the resulting report must not be used by other parties as a full Asbestos Survey or Asbestos Management Plan.

Certified Laboratory Testing

We work with IANZ-accredited asbestos testing laboratories to test the asbestos content of products from your commercial or residential property. One of our asbestos specialist surveyors will collect samples and deliver them for professional asbestos lab testing. The turnaround for testing is quick and, if the presence of asbestos is confirmed, we can provide a strategy on how best to manage or remove it.

Asbestos Management Surveys and Plans

The Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 place a duty on businesses to have an Asbestos Management Plan in place for workplaces where asbestos is likely to be found. This Management Plan must set out where any identified asbestos or asbestos-containing material is present, and how it will be managed to ensure occupants of the building, and visitors to it, are safe.

Conqra Asbestos Solutions are asbestos specialists with 25 years’ experience in the building industry. We can visit your property to perform a comprehensive asbestos survey and create an Asbestos Management Plan that will fulfil all the legal requirements of your workplace.

When left intact and undisturbed, most asbestos-containing materials pose no health risk to building occupants. Potential for exposure increases, however, when the material is damaged or disturbed, e.g. when a contractor comes to a site to complete an installation or maintenance.

If your commercial building has no Asbestos Management Plan, or if you have contractors on site who’s work may result in a contamination risk, contact us for a comprehensive Asbestos Management Plan.
